Our Branch Chairman, David Martin, and Branch Pubs Campaign Co-ordinator, Geoff Matthews, have resigned their posts. Unless replacements are found very soon, under CAMRA rules Milton Keynes and North Bucks Branch will be shut down and our 24th Concrete Pint Beer Festival in October will not happen.
In order to elect these replacements a Special General Meeting of the Branch has been called for Monday, 11th September 2017, at 8pm in The Cannon, High Street, Newport Pagnell MK16 8AQ. This communication is formal notice of this meeting.
In order to have a Branch and a Beer Festival we need candidates for Chairman and Pubs Campaigns Co-ordinator. This is where YOU could save the Branch and the Festival by coming forward.
If you do not feel ready to step up to being Chairman our Treasurer, John McLaughlin, has indicated his willingness to stand for this position, but that means under CAMRA rules he would have to relinquish the Treasurer role. So if anyone is willing to stand as Treasurer, that too would save the day. John will provide full support during the handover of the post and would be available for assistance and advice thereafter.
The posts of National Beer Scoring Scheme Coordinator, Database Coordinator, Good Beer Guide Coordinator, Pubs Preservation Officer and Public Affairs Officer are also currently vacant but filling these is less urgent and could wait until the normal Branch AGM in January. We need to fill the Chairman (or Treasurer) and Pubs Campaigns Co-ordinator roles now!
If you want to help save your Branch and your Beer Festival, contact the Secretary at firstname.lastname@example.org Let him know what posts you are interested in standing for.
We’ll be happy to talk over what’s involved and how you could help
The remaining Branch Officers are doing all they can to keep the Branch going. The dedicated Beer Festival team have put a lot of work over the last few months into organising a cracking 2017 Concrete Pint Beer Festival – it would be a tragedy if it all came to nothing because a couple of members wouldn't step forward and do their bit.
YOU can save YOUR Branch and YOUR Beer Festival and earn the heartfelt gratitude of nearly a thousand Branch members in Milton Keynes and North Bucks and even more of those who normally come along and enjoy our Beer Festival.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Acting Branch Chairman
